1 Ethical Development of Agile Software Processes (EDAP)
How does one make an ethically sound decision? With the increased use of software systems in all areas of our lives, this question comes to the fore in the software development process. Because these ethical decisions are expressed through algorithms in machine learning or autonomous systems, they often affect many people. This makes it especially important that such software engineering decisions are well argumented and easy to retrace. Unfortunately, there currently exist no methods that integrate a structured ethical deliberation into software development processes. This project introduces the Ethical Deliberation for Agile Processes (EDAP) approach.
It is a tool to enable agile development teams to document the ethical dimension of their development decisions in a clear and concise way and so enable sound and coherent deliberation that is easy to understand and verify by third parties.
